Privacy Policy
Plain English summary
LoclEdge helps small businesses prepare geotagged photos and AI-assisted captions for Google Business Profile (GBP) and similar listings. We keep most of your content on your device. When AI captions are used, images and related text go through our server to Anthropic’s Claude so we can generate captions — we do not put API keys in the app. We do not sell your personal data. We do not run ads or third-party advertising trackers in the app as currently designed (if that changes, we will update this policy).
Information we collect
Photos and camera roll
With your permission, LoclEdge may access your camera and photo library so you can take or select photos for geotagging and caption prep. Photos you choose to process stay under your control. We do not upload your entire camera roll.
Location, GPS, and EXIF geotagging
With your permission, the app may use device location and/or existing photo EXIF location data to geotag images for GBP-style workflows. Location is used for photo preparation features you request. We do not sell location data.
Device identifiers and usage limits
To enforce fair use and subscription/entitlement limits, we may collect limited device or installation identifiers and usage counters (for example, how many AI captions or processing actions you have used). This is for product limits and abuse prevention, not advertising.
Account and Sign in with Apple (coming)
When Sign in with Apple is available, we may receive an Apple-provided identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email. We use this only to authenticate you and manage entitlements.
AI processing (images and captions)
When you request an AI caption or related processing, selected image content and prompt context are sent to our server, which then calls Anthropic’s Claude. We design this so API keys are not embedded in the client app. Anthropic processes that content to return captions under their terms and policies. Do not submit content you are not allowed to share with a processor.
Purchase and entitlement data
If you subscribe or buy features through Apple, Apple handles payment. We may receive confirmation of purchase status and entitlements from Apple (and store entitlement state on our server when that backend is launched) so features unlock correctly. We do not receive your full payment card details.
On-device storage
Most app preferences and local working data are stored on your device (for example via AsyncStorage). When server-backed usage limits and entitlements launch, related counters and entitlement status may also be stored on our servers.
Diagnostics (limited)
We may collect basic technical logs (crash/error signals, app version, OS version) needed to keep the app working. We do not assume third-party ad or analytics trackers are present unless we add them and update this policy.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide geotagging, photo prep, and AI caption features you request
- Enforce usage limits and subscription entitlements
- Authenticate you (including Sign in with Apple when available)
- Fix bugs, improve reliability, and support you
- Comply with law and protect against fraud or abuse
We do not sell personal information. We do not use your photos or captions to train public advertising profiles. We do not currently monetize the app via third-party advertising networks.
How we share information
We share data only as needed to operate LoclEdge:

We do not sell personal data to data brokers.
Data storage and retention
- On device: Local preferences and working data remain on your device until you delete the app or clear app data.
- On server (when launched): Usage/entitlement records are kept as long as needed to provide the service, prevent abuse, and meet legal/accounting needs, then deleted or anonymized when no longer required.
- AI requests: Content sent for captioning is processed to fulfill your request. We do not intend to keep raw photo payloads indefinitely; retention for logs/debugging will be limited and purpose-bound. Exact retention windows will be set at launch and stated here when finalized.
You can delete the app at any time. For server-side deletion or access requests, contact us (see below).
Children’s privacy
LoclEdge is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Your choices and controls
- Grant or deny camera, photos, and location permissions in iOS Settings.
- Stop using AI caption features to avoid sending images/text for processing.
- Delete the app to remove on-device LoclEdge data.
- Manage subscriptions in Apple ID → Subscriptions (see Support).
- Request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold by emailing us.
California and GDPR-style rights (light)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Know what personal data we collect and how we use it
- Access a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Opt out of “sale” or certain sharing (we do not sell personal data)
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EU/UK) where applicable
To exercise these rights, email support@locledge.app with enough detail for us to verify and respond. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
EU/UK note: Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases typically include performance of a contract (providing the app features you request), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, product improvement), and consent (where required for permissions or optional processing). Controller identity: Castle Painters LLC. EU representative / DPO: to be designated if required.
International transfers
If you use LoclEdge from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries where we or our processors operate. We take steps appropriate to the transfer mechanism in use when required by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit and at rest (including keeping Anthropic API credentials on the server, not in the app). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be highlighted in-app, on this page, or by other reasonable notice when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
